GS E&C will join hands with Denmark's Haldor Topsoe, the world's leading biodiesel production technology company, to modularize Haldor Topsoe’s biodiesel production technology. Following green hydrogen, it plans to expand its modularization business to the biodiesel field, further strengthening its competitiveness in the renewable energy modularization business. On the 23rd at GS E&C’s headquarters in Seoul., GS E&C held a signing ceremony for the 'MOU for Standard Modularization of Biodiesel Production Facilities' in the presence of officials such as the Head of GS E&C's Plant Division and Soeren Selde Enevoldsen, Haldor Topsoe's Business Development Director – Global Licensing and Sales. The MOU calls for GS E&C to standardize and modularize the core processes of the 'HydroFlex™' technology owned by Haldor Topsoe. Haldor Topsoe provides information on biodiesel production technology, and GS E&C will use the information to standardize design and construction, leveraging its know-how accumulated through its execution of large-scale refinery and chemical plant projects, thus enabling cost savings and reduction in construction period.Plant modularization means that the core plant process units, which must be individually assembled on site, is produced as a standardized module and needs only to be installed on site. It is attracting attention as a technology-intensive eco-friendly plant business. In particular, GS E&C plans to develop standardized modules through this agreement and advance into the biodiesel market not only in Korea but also globally with Haldor Topsoe. As a result, GS E&C is expected to establish itself as a leader in renewable energy modularization business, with green hydrogen and biodiesel plant modularizations.Haldor Topsoe is a Danish company that possesses world-class carbon reduction technology in the chemical and petroleum business. In recent years, it has taken an unrivaled edge in renewable energy conversion technology in the North American and European markets. Haldor Topsoe’s HydroFlex™ is a technology that converts renewable feedstocks such as vegetable oil and soybean oil into jet fuel or diesel.A GS E&C official stated, “By establishing a partnership with a leading company in the biodiesel field, which is expected to grow continuously in the future, we have laid the foundation for further expansion of the eco-friendly energy modularization business.” “We will continue sustainable management through the expansion of new eco-friendly businesses.”*Bio-dieselBiodiesel is a renewable, biodegradable fuel manufactured from vegetable oils, animal fats, or recycled restaurant grease. Currently, biodiesel is mixed with diesel for diesel vehicles or used as 100% pure fuel. In Korea, biodiesel is mixed with diesel fuel is also being sold.
